Rutendo Nyapokoto
Hello there my name is Rutendo Faith Nyapokoto an S.A.H.T.C.-The Hospitality School Alumni. My journey with S.A.H.T.C.-The Hospitality School began in 2016 when I decided to advance my career and gain more knowledge in the Culinary Arts industry.I have been in the industry since 2010 and the experience that I gained at SAHTC- The Hospitality School was *AMAZING*. I got acquainted to new menu and recipe skills that I hadn't acquired before. When they say ‘We train the best' indeed they do both practically and theoretically.
During my studies I appreciated the training as we explored and were given room to showcase our talents through what they call “Chefs on Stage”. When I graduated in 2017, the school assisted me to get a position at The Heritage School as a chef. Later I moved to Amalinda Safari Collection and then Victoria Falls Safari Lodge where I worked as a pastry chef. Again through S.A.H.T.C. -The Hospitality School , I’m currently undergoing a training program in Pastry in the United States of America at the Ritz Carlton of Naples where I’m receiving 5 star training that will enhance my career advancement. I am thankful to S.A.H.T.C. -The Hospitality School for fulfilling my dreams in my career and for the massive support they have given since day 1. Even as an alumni, S.A.H.T.C.-The Hospitality School never abandons it's own but where possible they still provide support for growth within the industry. I am here today because of S.A.H.T.C.-The Hospitality School. Indeed they deliver, motivate, inspire, equip and above all they TRAIN THE BEST. -

It is such a privilege and honour to be on the alumni list of S.A.H.T.C- The Hospitality School class of 2019. They deliver nothing but the best in international hospitality training standards and you are guaranteed to be fit for purpose at any large hospitality brand if you follow the formulas given to you by all the facilitators you train under. I was spoilt for choice when it came to selecting my attachment destination in 2020. This saw me jump right outside the box and experience Food and Beverage Operations in the wild at Hippo Pools Wilderness Camp. Within the space of a month and a half I was moved from a Camp Assistant to Bartender and Restaurant Server and it's all thanks to the knowledge imparted to me by Mr. Farrell and his team.
Upon the completion of my studies the school was already in contact with a number of notable properties in the industry who were keen to work with me and it's such an amazing headache to have when you've got so many top brands in the hospitality industry eager to have you on their team in so many destinations across the globe and you don't even know which one to pick. I am currently working in Doha, Qatar and have had the pleasure of meeting so many international superstars in sport, music, you name it. I also received Wine and Beverage training at S.A.H.T.C. -The Hospitality School which I am very grateful I took up because it has given me such an advantage within my field of work in the Food and Beverage Department of a luxury hotel in Qatar and has also seen me being recognized by very prominent figures in the world. I am thankful to S.A.H.T.C. -The Hospitality School for all of the opportunities they've presented to me and still keep open for me. Once you enrol there, the world is your oyster. It's the best decision you can make for yourself because we really do 'TRAIN THE BEST' 🇿🇼 🇮🇪. -

So after graduating at S.A.H.T.C.- The Hospitality School in 2013, I was employed by the Meikles Hotel as a Trainee Food and Beverage Manager. I was later transferred to The Iconic Grand Old Lady (The Victoria Falls Hotel). Later on, in 2015 I was employed by Africa Albida (Victoria Falls Safari Lodge) as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. As l looked for international exposure, I managed to land a job with Mukambi Safari Lodge as Food and Beverage Manager for 3 properties in the Kafue National Park,Zambia up to 2016. I joined Wilderness Safaris in Livingstone, Zambia managing Toka Leya Lodge as the Camp Manager/Food and Beverage Manager up to 2021. I have recently come back to Zimbabwe to join African Bush Camps as Camp Manager for Somalisa Camp in Hwange. This has been my journey so far. Though it has been tough, it has also been absolutely amazing. This is all thanks to SAHTC -The Hospitality School where it all started. It has not been easy, with a lot of tears and sacrifices along the way but all worth it.

My journey with SAHTC-The Hospitality School has been so great. I started my first year in International Hospitality Management training at SAHTC in September 2016. It has been a great experience from day one. Opportunities were offered to us in every aspect. Besides the theory part of the training we had an opportunity to feel the practical part of Hospitality Management. In 2018 just after my last exam for the last module, I secured a job in Qatar which I worked in the Food and Beverage department for 2 years 8 months. The knowledge I accrued when I was at SAHTC-The Hospitality School was of great help. It did not take a lot effort to fit in the work environment as I was fully equipped. I scooped Team Member of the Month Award whilst there and had a lot of awards of excellence. Currently, I am in the United States where I am doing professional training in the Food and Beverage Department. All this was driven by SAHTC-The Hospitality School from the start of the process till I got here at Montage Deer Valley. It’s really a lifetime opportunity as I am raising the flag of my school and of my nation high.
